My preschool class is so cute. I know you can’t actually see their faces here, but that is intentional. Today in class we taught them all about what a papoose was and then created our own. The term papoose is used when referring to cradle boards and other child carriers, which were used by Native American Indians and went by many names. The kids designed and painted their own blankets, cut out the baby’s head, added hair, and strung the rope themselves to keep the baby from falling. Their favorite part was wearing the baby and papoose on their backs, they got such a kick out of it. They are so adorable.

Her name is actually Skylar, but little brother Jake calls her Gar. It is really quite enduring. I found myself calling her that too. Last year it was “Lar,” now it’s “Gar.” It’s pretty cute. Skylar was a student in my class last year and I hadn’t seen her since she started kindergarten at her new school, so at first she was a bit shy. All that changed when collecting sticks and throwing leaves in the air were more important than pictures. Skylar’s new outfit and shoes were a big topic of conversation and Jake’s “fast shoes” were broken in. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and these two were pleasantly adorable. Enjoy!

It is hard to explain what this past month has meant to me. It’s a game, but it’s not just a game! What this season of Giants baseball has done for me, my family, my friends, and for my city is really quite indescribable. This particular Giants team has set an example that all teams in all sports should take note of. It was a team described as underdogs and misfits. In the end this ball club will be known as a TEAM with heart, perseverance, and passion. A group of men who were unselfish and hard-working. If that’s not what all players of sports should aspire to be then they don’t know the true meaning of teamwork. Not one single superstar or well-known player was on this team…and they are the Champions! Looks like we could learn a lot from the underdogs and misfits of the world!
I live in Southern California and even as far as I was, this season made me feel closer to home then I have in a long time. It has brought a sense of nostalgia into daily life. I spent my childhood at Candlestick park with my Dad, Mom, and sisters. I cheered for Robby Thompson, Matt Williams, Candy Maldanado, and on occasion Will “The Thrill” Clark. Peanuts, malts, polish sausages, and hot chocolate were snacks of choice at these games. This season I represented my Giants at Dodger Stadium for the first time in my 15 years of living here and I had the best time. I didn’t make it up to the Bay Area for any games this season except one important one, but I sported my team colors at work and wore my Giants gear to watch the games at my local bar. I cheered on Huff Daddy, Panda, Uribe, The Freak, Wilson, Pat the Bat, Torres, Renteria and my favorites Posey and Ross.
The important game I attended this year was Game 2 of the World Series in San Francisco. Generously a gift from my brother-in-law, Eric. This means I have to be nice to him the rest of my life…not a bad trade-off for an experience I won’t soon forget. You just can’t describe the “buzz” around the city unless you are there. The streets were lined with eager fans going into AT&T Park and those watching in the bars outside. A sea of orange and black were the only colors you saw. I walked in the stadium proudly wearing my ticket around my neck, taking my orange rally towel, and stood at my seat for about 90% of the game. Singing “When the lights go down in the City,” giving a standing ovation to Matt Cain as he left the mound in the 7th inning, losing my voice from screaming so much, the deafening sounds of the fans, a 9-0 win against the Rangers, and knowing that a new generation of Giants fans (my nieces and nephews)will continue new traditions with Giants baseball, are all parts of this night and weekend that will remain favorite memories for a lifetime. History has been made, the San Francisco Giants are World Series Champions!

For the first time since all my nieces and nephews were born I spent Halloween with them. When not technically on the day, but at each of their perspective schools the Friday before. Each had their own Halloween parade. Absolutely the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I fell more in love with all of them. I don’t know a cuter Batman, Robin, Jesse, Woody, or Buzz Lightyear! Happy Halloween!

I’d had been waiting to post these photos because I have a new blog in the works. I’ve had a new blog in the works for some time by the new year I should have a whole new site. Patience…
My good friends Alex and Jamie got married this past September in Wisconsin. I was honored to take part in their special day. Not only did I fall in love with the location but the Wisconsin hospitality. Alex and Jamie, you two made me laugh, smile and cry on your wedding day. You are so devoted to one another, so selfless, so in love. I am so happy to call you both my friends. Congratulations!

This was a birthday party set up not just for kids but for adults too. Okay maybe you have to have kid like tendencies like I do, to have fully enjoyed this party, but what could be better than a birthday party at a pumpkin patch. From a photographer’s point of view my favorite time of year absolutely has to be the fall. The colors, the leaves, and the crisp air, all remind me of the rapidly approaching holiday season. My cousin Katie celebrated her second birthday at Tanaka Farms. We went on a hay ride, saw a pumpkin catapulted in the air, picked a pumpkin to take home, got lost in a corn maze, went into the petting zoo (ewww gross) and picked vegetables. Happy Birthday Katie!
OMG-Oh My Ghord!

I came across the site Love That Shot not too long ago. This week I decided to join in to their Love Your Shot Link up just for fun! I have been listening to an audio book these last few weeks, Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway. As a challenge every day you have to do something that scares you a bit. Putting a photo up on a site for all to see and critique, scares me and excites me. So here goes. Angie Arthur and Amy Locurto are guest judges this week. They are the founders of I Heart Faces a photo site challenging photograhers on a weekly basis with a new theme.
Love that Shot usually doesn’t have a theme , but occasionally they will. The theme this week is to post a photo of your favorite face.
I took this photo in September, in Wisconsin, at my good friend Alex’s wedding. This is a photo of him and his new bride Jamie after the wedding.
This shot took place right at the end of our shoot. The sun was setting and we were all ready to head back to cocktail hour when out of the corner of my eye I saw this clearing. A wide open green space with the sun just peeking through the tops of those trees. I couldn’t of asked for a better location. Alex and Jamie willingly walked through the brush and this was my last shot taken. I was using a Canon 5D Mark II, manual mode at f2.8; 1/500 at an ISO of 320. Enjoy!

First things first, this is not my best work, but it was so funny to me I had to post it. I “forced” my family to stand up in front of the pinata at my nephews recent birthday party. It was impromptu, so my set up and background weren’t exactly appropriate, but it is what it is. Props to “Uncle David” for being the only man macho enough to stand in front of what is nothing less than a creepy kids clown pinata. Thanks Alex, Caitlin, Alison, Auntie Beth, Auntie Jackie, Grandma, “Auntie Amber”, and Sofia for participating.

It’s that time of year again and I can hardly believe it. Family portraits for Christmas cards! 2010 went by too fast. With the holiday season approaching rapidly, I spent this past weekend with a wonderful family getting ready for Christmas. A family I have had the opportunity to get to know very well. Tony, Celeste, Sebastian, Catalina, and I enjoyed a morning walk amongst tree stumps, caterpillars, walking sticks, vines, unleashed dogs, and the mention of “shhhhh” a few coyotes. (we didn’t see any, and I was okay with that) We walked leisurely with an occasional sit down for photos. A perfect Sunday morning spent with a wonderful family.

Before the I Do’s are said, myself and five other of Noelle’s closest friends had to celebrate her final days as a bachelorette. A suite at a resort, sun, bottomless mimosa’s, laughs, a few overturned chairs, tattoos(just kidding), some bills from the groom for the bride to spend on herself, and a spa day, all make up the perfect weekend in San Diego. Noelle is 23 days from marrying her best friend, Cody. Their special day has been 9 months in the making with all the final details being wrapped up. It is going to be beautiful! Best wishes! Love you!
I was there too, but as always, I was behind the camera. No worries, I really enjoyed myself. Toast of the Day: Here’s to spending time with good friends.

My Mom has always been a great cook, but her best meal in my mind has always been dessert. She’s a top notch baker. When my sisters and I would arrive home from school on many occasions for an afternoon snack we’d have bunt cake, chocolate chip cookies, pudding, or brownies. I think this is why the only thing I like to do in the kitchen is bake. As a new generation starts to fill up my family, my mother has continued her legacy of being an “award” winning baker. For each of her grandchildren’s birthday they get to select a cupcake cake out of a dessert book and without reservation my Mom creates her masterpieces. This one took a while and I helped a bit, mostly by licking the spoons filled with frosting.
“Grandma’s are Moms with lots of frosting.”
